An inn is a connection between people. It is a place, where we drink, eat, sleep, love, cry and laugh. The life happens in the centre of it, the paths cross over and all of it will be forgotten for forever. Archenemies may sit even at the same table or lovers may see each other for the last time. An inn is a social anchoring point and often a necessary organ of a functioning social fabric. It is a constructed manifestation of the host and the encounter.
The construction site is in a calm location, outside of the dense city district. The form of the concept is compact, monolithic and abstract interpretation of barn typology to awake the interest possible visitors. All elements are in a constant interaction and contrast with each other, which is a strong symbolism of the design concept. The concrete foundation flows from the ground and rises into the timber construction. The joint works of timber construction is a (cultural) mixture of western and eastern traditional woodworking joinery. The delicacy of the wooden elements and the solidity of the rammed earth volume in the interior space, the western joinery and eastern timber construction, the sacred interior atmosphere and its strong connection to exterior space... The Gasthaus has been thought as a place, where one will enjoy the moment and feel the harmony between all.
